APPRENTICESHIP ELIGIBILITY

As with many government funded schemes, there are eligibility requirements for beneficiaries.

The UK Apprenticeship scheme is very inclusive and not subject to a complex set of rules regaring eligibility. The aim is to encourage both Employers to embrace the scheme and for those seeking work and existing employees to access the benefits of Apprenticeships.

1. Apprenticeships are open to anyone over the age of 16 and living in England.

2. Apprenticeships should not be in full time education or hold a University degree.

3. Apprenticeships should normally be in employment of not less than 30 hours a week

4. The choice of skills training and assessment is flexible, but should lead to a nationally recognised NVQ award. If an Apprentice does does have a Level 2 competence in Functional Skills, such as Literacy & Numeracy, these must be offered.
